Spicecast #172 - Victoria Jones and The Women in Music Weekend

On today’s cast we have the ever talented Victoria Jones. Victoria is performing tonight at 6pm alongside Judy Allison at Church Street Wine Shoppe, her show this evening is part of the huge Downtown Huntsville Women in Music Weekend. Victoria shares the story behind her track “Live for Now” as well as speaking to us about the importance of having women in the music scene.

Spicecast #171 - Alex Hendrix and the Women in Music Weekend

Alex Hendrix is back in the Spicerack this time to talk about the HUGE number of amazing female musicians lining downtown this coming weekend for Downtown Huntsville's Women in Music Weekend. The shows start Thursday at tons of downtown localtions and runs until next Sunday. There was way too many awesome female musicians to choose from but we play two tracks for you during the interview including "Fool's Gold" by Ally Free recorded at Spice Rack Studios and "Sell me on California" by Bonnor Black.

We talked to Gary about building his new group from the ground up and how composing with a band and with different vocalists changes his writing. Today Gary is sitting down with Lance and Rebecca of The 718 Project. Lance and Rebecca talk about their excperience creating religious music, musicians that inspire them and they also play plenty of tunes live just for us!

Soul Karnival is back at the Spice Rack for their softmore spice rack appearance. Despite car wrecks, monster studio time and more Dobby, Cash, Ryan and Braxton of Soul Karnival pull off some amazing live tunes for us and get into all the nitty gritty behind their new album, "The Border Inbetween". Safeword's Ceelyn Patterson was in the studio to give us the scoop on the newest alt rock sensation coming out of the valley. Ceelyn along with Casey Wolf make up Safeword and have already produced some stellar sounding demos and tracks. Even though the guys are just beginning their journey as a project they're both veterans of the national scene and Ceelyn drops by to give us the low down on what's to come from the guys as well as sample some of their awesome tracks! On today's show we hear "The Keeper", "Release", "Sorry Girl" and "Punch Out".
